Covid policy

The Center for Teaching and Learning values the health and safety of all visitors, volunteers and staff. It is important to know that we are in a limited resource area, and it may be very difficult to reach the medical attention necessary for a serious illness.

We also recognize that as the nature of the pandemic shifts and the science evolves, so must our behaviors, responses and policies. In an effort to balance safety with accessibility and personal responsibility, the following guidelines have been adopted. These policies are subject to change with CDC guidelines.

  • All overnight visitors should complete a rapid test within 48 hours prior to arrival on site. Anyone who tests positive or is experiencing symptoms must stay home.

  • Vaccinations are strongly recommended for all visitors, volunteers and staff.

  • All visitors, volunteers and staff must monitor their health while on site, masking and testing if any symptoms arise or if they have been in close contact with someone known to be positive for COVID-19.

  • Anyone who tests positive while on campus will be required to isolate themselves from the rest of the group

DIVERSITY, HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION POLICY

Diversity Statement

The Center for Ecological Learning and Teaching (CETL) deeply values and is committed to diversity.  We honor the differences among us, knowing that those differences strengthen and enhance not only our experience while at CETL but our community as well.  In this way, we can utilize our diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives to create a culture of inclusion.

CETL seeks people from all segments of the community for all job and volunteer levels and actively supports the development of volunteers and employees for personal growth and internal advancement opportunities.

CETL is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment and volunteer leadership decisions on the basis of merit.

We want to have the best available individuals in every job and position.

Harassment and Discrimination Policy

CETL strongly disapproves of and will not tolerate the harassment and unlawful discrimination of any employee, visitor, customer, or volunteer.

CETL believes all individuals have the right to work and volunteer in an environment free of sexual harassment and discrimination based on race or color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy-related condition, physical or mental disability, religion, age, genetic information, ancestry or national origin.

Sexual harassment is a form of misconduct that is a violation of Section 4572 of the Maine Human Rights Act and that undermines the integrity of the employment relationship or the volunteering environment.  In any employment or volunteer context, sexual harassment can be defined as the attempt to control, influence or affect the career, salary or job of an individual in exchange for sexual favors or the creation of an intimidating, hostile or offensive working or volunteering environment based on unsolicited and unwelcome sexual overtures or conduct, either verbal or physical.  The following is the Maine Human Rights Commission’s regulatory definition of sexual harassment:
